Event description:

Wolbachia is an endosymbiont that infects the germline and manipulates reproduction in most insect species. Consequently mass releases of Wolbachia- infected insects are in progress to combat Dengue, Zika and other vector borne human diseases. Wolbachia is also the causative agent of Elephantiasis and African River Blindness. Our lab explores the molecular and cellular basis of the interactions between Wolbachia and its hosts
