David Schatz one of six Yale faculty members elected to NAM

Congratulations to Dr. David Schatz!  Schatz, along with five other Yale faculty members, was elected to the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), a highly prestigious non-profit academy whose mission is to address and improve upon issues pertaining to health, medicine, and science. Schatz was recognized for his work to understand V(D)J recombination, a mechanism that creates diverse genes for antibodies and T-cell receptors crucial for the adaptive immune system.  Schatz holds a secondary appointment in MB&B alongside being the Waldemar Von Zedtwitz Professor of Immunology. Schatz was previously elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 2018.
 

The other faculty who were elected to the academy include Nita Ahuja (Department of Surgery); Jorge Galán (Departments of Microbial Pathogenesis and Cell Biology); Akiko Iwasaki (Departments of Immunobiology, MCDB, and Dermatology); Rafael Pérez-Escamilla (School of Public Health); and Nenad Sestan (Departments of Neuroscience, Comparative Medicine, Genetics, Psychiatry). Congratulations everyone!
