Patrick Sung’s lab has recently published research on newfound interactions of BRCA1 that could lead to new developments in breast cancer therapy. The study, led by Weixing Zhao, traces the mechanism of BRCA1-BARD1 interactions with Rad51 and identifies a late role for this complex in homologous recombination. The Sung lab collaborated with various groups within MB&B, Pathology, and Therapeutic Radiology as well as groups in Colorado State University and Columbia University.
