Joan Steitz is the Winner of the 2015 Connecticut Medal of Science

Joan was recognized not only for her numerous seminal contributions to RNA biology, but also for her dedication toward the teaching and mentoring of undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows, and her commitment to the training and advancement of women scientists, in particular. The award citation also states that “Her inspired leadership led to a renaissance at Yale that made the Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry one of nation¹s strongest in molecular biology”.
