Madeline Sherlock wins RNA Society’s top award

November 29, 2017

Congratulations to  Madeline Sherlock whose doctoral work in the lab of Dr. Ronald Breaker has earned her the 2018 RNA Society/Scaringe Graduate Student Award by the RNA Society, the society’s top award. Madeline notes that her research, “focused on riboswitches, a type of RNA that regulates gene expression in response to a particular small molecule. My contribution was discovering and identifying the small molecule ligand for multiple riboswitch classes involved in regulating diverse processes such as guanidine detoxification, amino acid starvation response, and nucleotide biosynthesis.”
