Remembering NAS member and outstanding scientist Charles M. Radding, MD, Professor Emeritus of Genetics

Charles M. Radding, MD, Professor Emeritus of Genetics, passed away on October 20, 2020. He was 90. Dr. Radding was a member of the National Academy of Sciences.

Dr. Radding is remembered as an exceptional scientist. He dedicated his life to the study of DNA recombination. He was born in Massachusetts and continued his education and medical career attending Harvard College and Medical School. Dr. Radding joined the Department of Medicine at Yale to head a basic research laboratory in 1967, later joining the Department of Human Genetics, which has since been renamed the Department of Genetics. Distinguished as an admired mentor for his teaching dedication and motivating lectures, Dr. Radding has been a valued member of MB&B.
