By Dahyana Arias Escayola: Rob Fernandez, a fifth year student in the Koelle lab, has been awarded the 2018 Annie Le Fellowship. This fellowship is awarded to students who have demonstrated leadership or service to Yale and the New Haven communities, an exemplary record of academic achievements, and outstanding interpersonal skills. Rob is involved in many outreach programs here at Yale. He has been instructor and coordinator for the Science, Technology, and Research Scholars (STARS) Program, graduate student representative on the MB&B Committee on Climate and Diversity, co-coordinator of the Business of Biotech Lecture Series, and was one of the founders of the BBSB Mentorship program among other things. Rob values the importance of diversity in STEM, and has founded Científico Latino, a platform that provides resources to undergraduates and graduates in STEM regardless of background. Congratulations to Rob on this well-deserved recognition!
