Convergence of Research at the Interface of the Biological, Physical, and Engineering Sciences
This summer program embeds undergraduates, primarily from small liberal arts colleges and from underrepresented groups, in Yale laboratories affiliated with the Raymond and Beverly Sackler Institute. In addition to conducting cutting-edge research and promoting their independence as scientists, the program incorporates a series of enrichment activities to improve the undergraduate participants’ communication skills and better prepare them to enter graduate studies in STEM fields. The program was started in 2009 and has been funded by the NSF since 2012. 85% of the participants are now enrolled in PHD, MD or MD/PhD programs.
