Ronald Hood, a Yale College junior, has been awarded the prestigious national Goldwater Scholarship. Hood is majoring in MB&B and is a member of Dr. Nikhil Malvankar’s lab, where he studies protein-protein electron transfer. After graduating from Yale, Hood plans to pursue a Ph.D. in biophysics.
According to the Goldwater Foundation website, the scholarship “was designed to foster and encourage outstanding students to pursue research careers in the fields of the natural sciences, engineering, and mathematics. [The foundation] seeks to identify and support college sophomores and juniors who show exceptional promise of becoming this Nation’s next generation of research leaders in these fields”
Goldwater Scholars receive financial support for the remainder of their undergraduate degree. They also join a network of scholars who have gone on to achieve great accomplishments in their scientific careers. More information about Hood’s career at Yale and about the scholarship can be found at the links below. Congratulations to Ronald Hood for this incredible achievement!
