Assistant Professor Slavoff’s research involving the development of chemical and biological tools to study RNA and ribonucleoprotein particles was most certainly the catalyst for her selection as a 2016 Searle Scholar, an honor that comes with a monetary award that, per the Slavoff Lab web page, “will be used to support our goals of studying translation initiation using genetic and proteomic techniques”. Searle Scholars are early-career scientists selected for their potential to make significant contributions to chemical and biological research over the course of their careers.
